I have been working with Lance Alspaugh of our very own Village Theatre and I am excited to announce a “Mayor’s Movie of the Month” Program beginning this September!
In honor of the United States Navy’s Centennial of Naval Aviation, the inaugural film being featured as part of this program will be “Top Gun” on Thursday evening at 7PM on September 22nd. General Admission will be $5 and will allow you to relive the experience with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment! At 4PM on Thursday, September 22nd, there will be a classic car procession down Orange Avenue to showcase the cars participating in the classic car races called “Speedfest” that same weekend on-base at NAS North Island. Now, you will be able to enjoy a lead-up to Speedfest at 4PM followed by a special showing of Top Gun later that evening at 7PM!
Future movies in this series will be “Wall Street” and “Ghostbusters” in October, “Bridge Over the River Kwai” in November, and a matinee showing of “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Christmas Eve.
