NAVAL HISTORIAN KARL ZINGHEIM TO TALK AT CORONADO LIBRARY

In conjunction with the Coronado Library’s commemoration of the Centennial of Naval Aviation, U.S.S. Midway Museum staff historian Karl Zingheim will speak in the Library Winn Room on Friday, May 6, at 11:00a.m. Karl Zingheim will talk about the historic role of Naval Aviation during World War II and the Battle of the Pacific. The talk will correspond to the Coronado Library’s chronologically evolving exhibition on Naval Aviation and the May and June exhibit on World War II. The image above is a sampling of the paintings that will be on exhibit at the Library starting May 6.

Karl Zingheim is a 1986 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and currently serves as the staff historian for the U.S.S. Midway Museum. He has been with the Midway Museum for over 15 years and was an early advocate for its establishment. As a specialist in naval history he has appeared on the television series “Dogfights!” and other documentaries. He has been actively involved in promoting the commemoration of the Centennial of Naval Aviation in San Diego and Coronado. He is also a world-class builder of dioramas featuring U.S. Naval ships and famous battles.

The talk is free of charge and is held at the Coronado Public Library. The Centennial of Naval Aviation programs are supported by the Friends of the Coronado Public Library.
