Announcing Orange and Park Photography

Orange and Park is happy to announce the first installment of Orange & Park Photography, available for purchase in a range of sizes as photographic prints or mounted canvases (also called gallery wraps). All of these images were shot in Coronado and are available at ORANGEandPARKcom.

REFLECTING WAVE

The Lincoln Memorial and the Taj Mahal may have reflecting pools but the Hotel Del Coronado stands alone with its reflecting wave. This shot frames the sun rising over the Coronado landmark on a cool glassy October morning. Those familiar with San Diego will probably recognize this as a Santa Ana weather pattern due to the cloudless sky. The Santa Ana is a blustery, dry and warm wind that blows out of the desert. These conditions are common in October and, in fact, partially fueled the horrific San Diego wild fires of October 2003 and 2007. Surfers love a moderate offshore Santa Ana because it blows into the front of the wave, making it barrel as it’s doing in this photo.

This photo stands out to us due to the contrast of the dawn of a warm Santa Ana day and the cold icy wave. We also love the exceptionally calm and glassy surf, creating a beautiful reflection of the Hotel Del, the Shores and an orange hue from the rising sun.

THE BLUE TUNNEL

It’s not unusual to see aircrafts hovering overhead around North Beach, a popular surf spot that gets going with strong south swells. However, it’s not every day you spot a plane descending over Coronado’s elite beachfront real estate in route to the Naval Air Station North Island from inside a closed out barrel. The timing of this shot is impeccable and makes it a unique capture.

SUNDAY

The sun sinks low on the horizon in this wide-angle image. The silhouettes of two surfers, Bryan Hessler and Kai Tanaka, are framed by a foamy foreground and high scattered clouds in the background. The photo was taken at Shipwrecks, just south of the Hotel Del on a warm Sunday afternoon.

THREE STRINGER

A classic three-string board shot from underwater on a crystal clear day at Shipwrecks. In this image refracting light entering the water creates a phenomenon known as Snell’s window and frames the board in a vivid green circle. The Shores can also be seen peaking through the water in the top left corner.
