St. Paul’s United Methodist Church is expanding its pastoral staff by hiring Coronado local, Rev. Lisa Johnson. Her primary focus will be developing inter-generational programs for the church. She will look to offer more opportunities for young families, youth and children.
With the completion of the new building, Pastor Lisa is excited about the potential for the church to serve the community and to grow. She also regularly assists in worship and preaches. Pastor Lisa has recently started a young mom’s Bible study called “Listening for God” on Thursday mornings at St. Paul’s (with childcare provided).
Allen Randall, Director of Ladle Fellowship soup kitchen says, “Pastor Lisa is a genuinely gifted speaker. God has blessed her with the rare ability of moving right past the surface of things to the deep places of the soul. Pastor Lisa makes the gospel come alive because she has a deep commitment to Christ and a heart of compassion–and it shows.”
Pastor Lisa is a graduate of Westmont College, received her Masters of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA. Her family first moved to Coronado in 1999 when she was called to Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Pastor Lisa is grateful to St. Paul’s and Rev. Neal Keller for giving her the wonderful opportunity to embrace both her calls, to motherhood and to ministry, by allowing her to serve part-time as a pastor. St. Paul’s enthusiastically welcomes Pastor Lisa to their church family & looks forward to the ways in which God will use her.
Pastor Lisa is married to Steve Johnson. They have two children, Ellie (7) and Luke (5) at Village Elementary school and feel blessed to call Coronado their home.
