On Friday, August 13th, a sampling of Orange & Park‘s printed creations will appear in the inaugural art show of the Machine Shop Gallery, a new addition to the growing design scene in downtown San Diego’s East Village. 
The Machine Shop Gallery is the brainchild of artist-entrepreneurs Chris Clements and Dustin Liedl, both of Coronado. Clements is a painter and ceramic artist, while Liedl’s workshopPure Concrete Studiois adjacent the art gallery and turns out striking, high-design precast concrete bath, kitchen and home furnishings. The duo has dubbed their collaboration Community/SPACE, and with over 1,500 sq. ft. of room to play with, it’s an artists’ paradise. 
“We are giving local artists a flexible new urban platform to show off their talent,” says Clements. “We want artists of all mediums to know they have a new place to display and promote their work downtown.” Clements, who works by day with his family’s real estate firm (The Clements Group), was instantly inspired when he saw the aging industrial shell that now houses the gallery, and decided to rent the raw spaceunsure of what its destiny would be, but confident he’d be able to shape it into something worthwhile. 
Join Orange & Park and a whole crew of artists for the new gallery ribbon cutting: Coronadan Dougie Mann will have work on display, along with locals Sarah whipple, Tyson Redenbarger, Peter Perrecone and others. Clements himself will have paintings up, and Liedl will be showcasing his concrete work open house-style in the studio. Additionally, the public will be treated to a live music set from local band Joy, with Coronadan DJ Slowhand providing the ambient beats.
