Orange & Park is proud to introduce local artist-designer Laurie McCray, whose new Crown City earrings are now available exclusively through orangeandpark.com. 
Laurie was born in Texas, but grew up in Los Angeles. She began vacationing in Coronado in 1973 and has been living here since 1989, enjoying breathtaking sunset views of the ocean and Hotel Del from her flat at the Shores. Her daughter Natasha (CHS class of 1998) is an art teacher in the Bay Area. Laurie, who studied business at USC, began her professional career as an interior designer. Her creative passions have expanded in recent years to include photographic arts and now, jewelry. 
Laurie handcrafts each piece of jewelry out of fine, unique stones and metal components acquired through her travels. Her favorite destinations include Paris, Venice and Maui, and her jewelry has been carried by numerous boutiques worldwide as well as by Hotel Bel Air, Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, and various Ritz Carlton hotels. 
In December 2009, Laurie’s trunk show at the Jose Eber Atelier in Beverly Hills added names like Elizabeth Taylor and Charlize Theron to her list of jewelry clients. Her photographic artbold remixes of photographs she’s takenhas likewise drawn the attention of private collectors and larger vendors. 
The Crown City earrings are Laurie’s latest jewelry design. Each earring consists of a golden crown hanging from a delicate chain studded with a deep red ruby that evokes Dorothy of Oz’s slippers as well as the Hotel Del.
