Delta Beach Cleanup

February 28 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PST

Join Emerald Keepers to help the Navy clear trash on Delta Beach. This stretch of beach on the bay side of Silver Strand, just south of the Naval Amphibious Base is on Navy property. It has been designated as a critical habitat for the western snowy plover and the California least tern. The western snowy plover is listed as threatened and the California least tern is listed as endangered under the Federal Endangered Species Act.

This is an opportunity to see a beach normally closed to human activity and take in expansive views of the bay while cleaning up a habitat for vulnerable species and keeping trash out of the San Diego Bay to protect marine animals.

Directions: From Coronado, head south on state Route 75 for 2.4 miles. Make a U-turn at the Fiddlers Cove Marina and RV park (Note: There is no sign or traffic light, but it’s the first left turn lane south of the Naval Amphibious Base). Head back north for about 1 mile and look for the Emerald Keepers flag by the north gate for Delta Beach. Drive carefully across the bike path and park on the sand inside the fence line.

Bring buckets, gloves, and pickers if you have them. See you there!
