CORONADO, CA (November 12, 2015) – The Coronado Chamber of Commerce (Coronado Chamber) is pleased to introduce long-time Coronado native Sue Gillingham as its new executive director. The selection was made after careful consideration by a board hiring committee, and the Chamber officially welcomed Gillingham on board at a November 10 meeting.
“We are very excited to have Sue join our team,” Coronado Chamber Board of Directors Chairman Phil Hammett said. “With her impressive background and ties to our community, we know that she will do a stellar job helping us build new relationships and better serve our members.”
Gillingham’s extensive and varied professional background has left her well prepared to take on the required duties as executive director of the Coronado Chamber. Most recently, Gillingham was the Managing Director of start-up operations at the Hotel Marisol, Coronado’s newest boutique hotel. Under her guidance, the Marisol is now ranked the number one hotel in Coronado on TripAdvisor. Prior to working with the Marisol, Gillingham was an owner and the general manager of the 1906 Lodge at Coronado Beach, where she designed and managed all aspects of the hotel’s operations. Under her leadership, the 1906 Lodge also rose to a number one ranking on TripAdvisor. Gillingham has also worked for over twenty years in hi-tech corporations, most recently as an account executive and executive mentor, developing customer service best practices and training programs for the North American operations of Computer Sciences Corporation.
“I am honored to have been selected for this position,” Gillingham said. “To use my expertise to help my hometown’s businesses succeed so that our community prospers is extremely exciting. I can’t wait to get started!”
The Coronado Chamber’s board of directors and staff are looking forward to a productive year of positive change with Gillingham’s leadership. Any questions can be directed to the Chamber’s staff at (619) 435-9260 or [email protected].
