Last month, just before the start of the school year, the Neon Novice Tennis Tournament was held at the Glorietta Tennis Center. In its ongoing support of youth tennis the Coronado Tennis Association sponsors an annual tournament for novice players in the age groups of 8,10, 12, 14 and under.
The full day tournament is designed to be a fun-filled event that includes breakfast, lunch, tennis matches, snacks and lots of trophies. Jennie Portelli the president of the CTA coordinated this yearÂ’s event and explained that it is “…truly a community driven tournament …” Ms. Portelli gave special thanks Laila Abdala, a Coronado tennis teaching pro who provided on court guidance and to David Spatafore, the owner of MooTime Creamery for his generous donation of Minimoos to all the participants.
