Coronado’s Band & Choir Boosters are holding their 38th Annual Artisans’ Alley Craft Faire on Saturday December 4th, 2010 from 9 am to 3 pm on the grounds of Village Elementary School playground at Seventh Street and H Avenue.
More than 180 booths, with close to 2000 people are expected to attend this year’s event. “Last year’s faire raised more than $19,000 for the Coronado High and Middle Schools’ bands and choirs”, says Amy Catacutan, event co-chairperson. Crafts and food from local artisans such as jewelry, artwork, aprons, t-shirts, soaps & body scrubs, jams & jellys are just a sampling of the products available to purchase for yourself or Christmas gifts and special thank-you’s. Food, drinks, and treats will also be available.
To make the event more festive, the CHS choir and Coronado Middle School Choir will sing Christmas carols while both school bands will offer mini-concerts throughout the day. There’s also a rumor that Santa may be stopping by too!
Kari McPherson, event co-chairperson, says it takes a good part of the year to put this event together. Money from this event will provide music, instruments, and oppotunities to travel to music competitions and workshops for the bands and choir memebers.
The students are as invested in this fundraiser as the parents. The band and choir students will arrive at 5 am to help vendors unload and set up shop in addition to performing throughout the day. A special note will go out before-hand to neighbors to prepare them for the event.
