Recently, Awesome Artist was sold to a Coronado Family who shares a passion for art and a goal to “create a safe, pleasant environment where EVERYONE can express themselves through art.”
That’s right! ALL ages are welcome at the Awesome Artist Studio located at 1011 C Avenue.
With a fresh coat of paint and beautiful decor, this large(can hold 30-40 people), fully equipped art studio offers a quiet space for all ages to focus on their creation and even display their art in the studio before picking it up!
Themed classes and camps are offered frequently including all types of crafts. All ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe and the paints are lead free.
The space has a large refrigerator for use as a place to host birthday parties, baby showers, or even private end of the year or christmas parties!
Owner of Awesome Artist, Marcella Bingham, who is an artist herself, feels it is important for children to be able to express themselves through art. Her daughter went to Awesome Artist to paint before the family bought the business in October.
“We have a mommy and me class, there is a coffee shop right at the corner, the space is perfect, and I just want people to enjoy the art because there really is nothing like this on the island,” said Bingham.
Bingham, a Brazilian born and 11 year resident of Coronado, has some of her art displayed in the studio and designed the new Awesome Artist logo.
Showing their support for local artists, a small boutique area has been added to the studio where an array of handmade gifts & goodies are available for purchase including ornaments, platters, jewelry, and clothes all created by San Diego based artists.
What makes Awesome Artist even more of a full service art studio is that they take special orders! So, if you’d like an artist to create a personalized wedding plate, party favors, or company themed gifts, they can do that!

Purchasing an unlimited membership offers the best deal for local artists how ever camp packages and daily use fees are available too

Nov 21- 25: Food and family; healthy eating habits
Nov 28- Dec 2: winter and snowflake fun; clay and drawing with graphite, chorcoal and colored pencils
Dec 5-9: snow sports in clay and mized media techniques
Dec 12-16: Angels and magic fairytale creatures on clay, collage and papier mache
Dec 19- 23: Ornaments and snowflake fun
Dec 26-30: Fireworks and rainbows; Happy new year!

Saturday & Sunday 11am – 5pm
Monday CLOSED
Tuesday- Friday 1pm – 7pm
*We will be closing at 6pm on Thanksgiving weekdays. Normal weekend hours.
