Nina Francis, singer-songwriter / jazz vocalist, and Peter Sprague, renowned jazz guitarist, composer, and band leader, will appear together on December 22 at Tango del Rey, San Diego’s hottest cabaret venue,
Nina, a San Diego native and graduate of The Bishop’s School, is currently a student in the Popular Music Performance Program at USC Thornton School of Music. Last summer, Nina performed regularly at La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. Recent honors include a performance at the BMI Songwriter Showcase at USC and participation as a songwriting instructor at Grammy Camp in LA.
Peter, a treasure in the local music scene, has received national recognition as recipient of the Chamber Music America 2010 award for his composition “Dr. Einstein’s Spin” Also included in his long list of credits are recent international tours as guitarist for the legendary jazz singer Diane Reeves. Peter has inspired Nina and is one of her musical heroes. They have enjoyed performances together at various venues in San Diego and North County. He considers her a fantastic musician with an exciting future and is looking forward to this collaboration. The concert will include a combination of jazz and pop standards and originals. The song list will appeal to music lovers of all ages.
