Coronado SAFE is partnering with Coronado Mom and Food Network Host Melissa d’Arabian to provide a kids cooking and demonstration experience for elementary school children that culminates in a dinner for the whole family. The event will take place Thursday, March 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Coronado Community Center’s Nautilus Banquet Room. Parents will drop off their children at 3:00 p.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. for a family-friendly dinner sponsored by Melissa d’Arabian.
During “Kids in the Kitchen,” children will be actively engaged in both cooking and craft activities. Children will play a meaningful role in providing dinner for their families that evening so they can make connections with some of the foods they’ve handled and see the value of their contributions. The family dinner will not only showcase some of the lessons the children learned during their kitchen experience, but it will also apply some of the practices on d’Arabian’s daytime cooking series on the Food Network, “Ten Dollar Dinners.”
“Kids in the Kitchen” will yield many unforgettable and camera-friendly moments. Thanks to the generous services of photographer Kel Casey and videographer Charlie Brown, parents will be able to purchase event photographs and an event video that capture their children’s memories from this one-of-a-kind experience. Coronado SAFE also greatly appreciates the incredible amount of time, effort and expertise provided by Allen Christensen of Crescent Moon Catering, whose invaluable contributions help ensure the success of this extraordinary opportunity for Coronado’s elementary school children and their families.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8. There are a limited number of spaces available, and only a completed registration form and payment reserves your spot. There are three ways to pick up the registration form and one way to register.
