MISTRAL CHEF PATRICK PONSATY NAMED MAÎTRE CUISINIER DE FRANCE
CORONADO, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2012) Loews Coronado Bay Resort is pleased to announce that Patrick Ponsaty, chef de cuisine of Mistral, will join the elite ranks of the Maître Cuisinier de France (Master Chef of France).
Receiving the Maître Cuisinier de France honor is one of the most envied titles a chef can achieve. With this designation, Chef Patrick will join a pristine team of only 45 chefs in the U.S., 200 in France and 55 other French chefs worldwide. Designations are awarded by the Paris-based Association des Maîtres Cuisiniers de France whose motto is to “preserve, advance and perpetuate the tradition of great French cuisine.”
“As a fifth-generation French Chef, Patrick has classical French training in his genes and it shows,” said Brian Johnson, general manager of Loews Coronado Bay Resort. “We’re thrilled his talented work has received the recognition it deserves, and look forward to continuing to deliver an unparalleled dining experience in Mistral.”
This recognition is just one of many awards Chef Patrick Ponsaty has earned over his impressive 30-year career. Raised in Cazeres, near Toulouse, France, Patrick’s background includes extensive training at a variety of Two and Three Star Michelin restaurants throughout France and Spain. He has trained under some of the world’s most legendary chefs, including Didier Oudill and Alain Ducasse, and has been named “Best Hotel Chef in America” by James Beard Foundation and “Chef’s Hall of Fame” by San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles.
Today, as chef de cuisine of Mistral, Patrick creates inspired menus best described as an evolution of French cuisine. His dishes showcase robust, intense flavors from the Mediterranean coast as well as fresh herbs from the resort’s own 3,800-square-foot organic garden.
