CHS Women’s Volleyball: A Dominant Force in Their League

Coronado Women’s Volleyball team is a strong force this year. Starting league play on October 6th, the Islanders are currently undefeated. They have defeated Serra High School, Christian High School, Mira Mesa High School, and Morse High School. The game against Christian was the toughest; teams traded games, each taking two before the Islanders prevailed in the fifth to take the win.

The team consists of 12 players, 9 of which are seniors. Most of the seniors have been playing together for many years. The team is very close and has great chemistry on and off the court. It is a hard-working group with a common goal in mind.

During last week’s game against Morse, Coronado defeated their opponent in three straight games. Alexis Corpus had 21 digs, Megan Turley had 19 assists, Serafina Fieweger had 10 assists, Mackenzie Wiley had 12 kills, Cassidy Wiley had 10 kills and Taylor Page had 8 kills.

Last night, Coronado faced Mission Bay, ending the first round of play against league opponents. Coronado won in three games with scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-13. Alexis Corpus had 21 digs, Taylor Page had 12 digs, Mackenzie Wiley had 17 kills, Cassidy Wiley had 7 kills, Megan Turley had 35 assists.

Round two of league play begins this Thursday against Serra High School at Serra High School.
