Cultural Arts Commission Seeks Volunteer Arts Coordinator for Coronado Celebrates 125

The Cultural Arts Commission is looking for a dedicated individual to join its Coronado Celebrates 125 team as a volunteer Arts Coordinator. The Arts Coordinator will work with the Commission’s Special Events team and its Contract Arts Administrator to provide organizational and clerical skills to help put together a yearlong celebration of Coronado.

In 2015 the City of Coronado will celebrate 125 years (CC125) since its incorporation, presenting an unprecedented opportunity for the City, working through its Cultural Arts Commission (CAC), to proactively collaborate with a wide variety of individuals, businesses, and organizations to engage citizens and visitors alike in an extraordinary celebration of all that Coronado is, and in doing so, honor its history, its accomplishments and its citizens.

“We’re looking for an energetic, organized arts lover to be part of our enthusiastic team for this coming year. It will be an exciting opportunity to be at the center of the action and a great way to gain invaluable organizing experience and meet new people,” states Heidi Wilson, Chair of Special Events for the CAC.

The Arts Coordinator will assist the CAC in executing its two-point plan:

  • Coordinate “Community Activities” on behalf of the City beginning on December 11, 2014, and following through until the actual date of founding, December 11, 2015. The CAC will build on its Oz Con working relationships with our Arts Partners and include other interested businesses, community organizations and individuals to again make something magical happen for our entire community.
  • Organize and produce a series of “City Sponsored” events in support of the CC125. Community sponsored events will take place throughout the new year and will include an August 13, 2015, 125-day countdown to December 11th targeted to begin with an event in Tidelands Park. City sponsored events will take place in various locations to augment and add to those offered by the Community, ensuring that all segments of the community are included and engaged in the celebrations. The grand finale is envisioned to be the Mayors’ Ball on December 11, 2015, hosted by our three living Mayors.

If you are interested in being part of an exciting celebration of Coronado, want to interact with the community, and love the arts, please apply or inquire for more information with Heidi Wilson at [email protected] or call 619-435-1108.
