City to Celebrate Rehabilitation of Affordable Housing Units

City of Coronado logoThe City of Coronado is excited to celebrate the beginning of work to rehabilitate 35 affordable housing units at four facilities scattered throughout Coronado.

A formal commemoration of the rehabilitation effort will be held on Thursday, February 7, at 2 pm in front of the units on Orange Avenue. It is the City’s goal to have its affordable housing units better fit in with the attractive character of Coronado.

The City Council entered into a long-term agreement with Interfaith Housing last year to renovate and manage the City-owned units as deed-restricted affordable housing. The units were purchased originally with tax increment funds. The state terminated this affordable housing program.

The brief celebration ceremony will be held at 406-430 Orange Avenue to mark the final affordable housing units in the City’s inventory to be rehabilitated. The City is pleased to show the community and region that Coronado takes its affordable housing obligations seriously.

Elected officials, City staff and officials from Interfaith Housing will be at the event.
