New City Website to be Unveiled at Council Meeting

A few of the items on the agenda for Tuesday’s City Council Meeting include:

  • Coffee Cart at Library – After an unsuccessful Request for Proposal to find a new concessionaire for the coffee cart, Amalo Brew approached the City with the desire to relocate their concession to Coronado. Current plans are that the coffee cart services will be provided Monday through Saturday from 9:30am to 6pm and Sundays 12:30pm to 5pm.
  • Gateway Vision Plan. The subcommittee and team, including Michael Baker International, working on the project to enhance and improve the old toll plaza will report on their concepts that will incorporate traffic calming characteristics of a parkway, pedestrian crossing improvements, enhanced vegetation, while maintaining the functionality of the existing facilities including the building storage, “zipper” parking, electrical substation, etc.
  • Introduction of a new city website. The city has received complaints that the current site (designed over 7 years ago) is difficult to navigate and search. It is also cumbersome for the staff who manage it to keep it updated.  After just over a year in the design phase, the Council will receive a live demonstration of the new site which will go live on July 20th.  Some improvements to be found on the new site include:
    • Consistent look on all pages throughout the site, and regardless of the device or browser used
    • Streamlined Content Management for those maintaining and updating the site
    • Easier navigation and searching
    • Companion phone app
  • Naked Warrior statue – the construction contract for installation of the Naked Warrior statue is to be awarded to Urban Corps of San Diego County with estimated completion at Glorietta Bay Park in October 2016.

The council meeting begins at 4pm in the Coronado City Hall Council Chambers: 1825 Strand Way.
