City Advises Preparation for Heavy Rain and Wind This Week

Image: National Weather Service

The National Weather Service advises that a major winter storm will impact the region Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 27-29, bringing periods of heavy rain (1.5 to 2 inches) and cold temps. For Coronado, the storm’s impacts include potential street flooding, especially during the heaviest rains Wednesday night through Friday; beach erosion, high surf of up to 7 feet and rip currents; and strong, gusty winds Thursday and Friday. Residents and business owners should be prepared. The City asks residents to avoid parking on the street if possible to allow rain water to flow unobstructed into the storm drains. Sand bags for residents are available at four locations: Alameda Boulevard and First Street; Alameda and Fourth Street; North Beach; and across from the Cays Fire Station.
