Operation Clean Sweep Full of Spirit and Fun

Operation Clean Sweep was executed with spirit and fun on Saturday, August 25, on and around Glorietta Bay. The event is a cleanup of the entire San Diego Bay organized by the Port Tenants Association. Coronado Yacht Club (CYC) headed the Glorietta Bay portion.

The effort was spearheaded by thirty boy scouts and adult leaders of Coronado Troop 801. Members of CYC covered the water and shore with dinghies, kayaks, and paddle boards. Community volunteers also participated.

The usual litter was retrieved as well as more unusual items like plastic dinosaurs, a skate ramp and a pool noodle. Volunteers noted that the bay was actually very clean to begin with, but that the annual sweep was needed. Coronado community spirit was evident as volunteers chatted about their visit to Glorietta Bay and how they planned to participate next year.
