Cays Median Project: The Cays Median project Phase II began demolition work on Monday, April 30. Crews will remove the declining shrubs throughout the 17 planter areas in the medians on Coronado Cays Boulevard. The City’s Public Services Department will oversee the work that will be conducted by contractor Aztec Landscaping, who will set up traffic controls along the medians. The project is expected to last 30 to 45 days. Planter areas will receive a combination of drought tolerant plants, aloe, a drip irrigation system, and hardscape such as cobble. The City thanks the Cays community for its patience.

Spring Community Clean Up: Bulky Trash Curbside Collection and Free Mulch will be offered during the week of May 7-11. This year’s Spring Community Cleanup event will take place on the regularly scheduled residential curbside collection day. Please put items out on the curb with your regular collection carts by 6 a.m. The Cleanup event gives residents an opportunity to place unwanted bulk items curbside, such as broken appliances, water heaters, furniture, old mattresses, yard waste, and other miscellaneous household clutter. All yard waste will be recycled and must be bagged or bundled. In addition, free mulch will be available for self-load/self-haul at the 100 block of B Avenue by the Little League field. Bring a shovel to get your compost while it lasts. If you plan to haul your compost in an open truck or trailer, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.

Free Summer Shuttle Kick-off Event:  The City will host a gathering on Friday, May 25, to officially kick off the 2018 Free Summer Shuttle program. The popular service keeps residents and visitors out of their cars during Coronado’s busiest season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Four brightly wrapped buses will be in service. After the kick-off ceremony, the community is invited to take a ride. Refreshments will be served.Buses will run from May 25-September 3 from 8:58 a.m. to 9:43 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and one hour later Friday and Saturday. Special free Fourth of July bus service will be available for Cays residents from 7:40 a.m. to 11 p.m. in 30-minute intervals from the Cays Fire Station to the Community Center. Village shuttle hours will be extended one hour on each end, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
