Cagers Drop Two Central League Games

tiki green chsThe Coronado Boys Varsity Basketball team dropped two league contests this week against Christian and Kearny.  On Tuesday, the Islanders traveled to Christian and played really well.  Coronado held a one point lead at half-time 29-28 and stretched that lead to 46-42 at the end of three quarters.  The Patriots caught fire in the fourth quarter forcing overtime and winning, 73-66.

Coronado was paced by Myles Manning who scored a game high 24 points, including six 3-Pointers. DJ Jackson had 11 points and 18 rebounds asserting himself against the taller Christian front court.  Caden Gentry scored 7 points and both Bruen Roulier and Vaughn Madrigal pitched in 6 apiece.

On Thursday, the team hosted the extremely talented Kearny Komets.  The game was never in doubt as Kearny raced to a 27-6 first quarter lead.  Coronado struggled to keep up with the athletic Kearny squad falling by a final score of 82-33.

Myles Manning led the Islanders with 9 points, while Jack Rinko scored 8 and Caden Gentry pitched in 6 points.

Next week the Islanders close out Central League play with a home game Tuesday (2/16) against Crawford. Tip-off is 5:00pm.  Then on Friday (2/19), the team travels to Crawford High with tip-off at 7:30pm.
