Soup, Handmade Bowls, and a Great Cause- Coronado’s Ninth Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser Approaching

Teachers and students of Coronado High School’s ceramics classes are utilizing their artistic talents to support a great cause in preparing for the 2015 Empty Bowls fundraiser. Teacher, Eric Rempe, and the ceramics students host Empty Bowls annually to raise money for the hungry in San Diego, and also to raise awareness about homelessness concentrated just a short distance from Coronado. The students and teachers are working together to create handmade “community bowls” which are sold along with warm soup at the event for $20. This year, the proceeds will be donated to Father Joe’s Village in Downtown, The Hunger Project, and Project Sammich.

Advanced ceramics student, Bri Lehr, says “Empty bowls is my favorite part of ceramics. I love seeing everyone work together for a great cause. Students work at lunch and after school to make sure that there is enough bowls for the event!” Help CHS ceramics meet their goal of raising $30,000 by attending Coronado’s ninth annual Empty Bowls event on Thursday, April 16th from 5-7pm in Coronado High School’s multipurpose room.
