We, the Coronado Scribes, consist of both professional and amateur writers. We have in common a desire to learn, by sharing our efforts and listening to other writers. We hold pressure-less sessions every Wednesday, at the Coronado Library conference room, starting at 1:30. Often we have guests who wish to just listen. They are welcome, and so are you. Each week on eCoronado, we feature a different piece of prose or poetry produced by one of our writers. Please feel free to comment or ask

Thirty years is a lifetime. That night
we walked through your mother’s
garden to lie down in the grass
beyond the fruit trees, you were
everything I wanted in this world.
Under those drifting grey clouds
and black sky spotted with stars,
your voice was soft and warm
as your touch. You went to Toronto
to finish college. I’m on an island
surfing at sunrise. I never learned
to get ahead like everyone else.
But I don’t regret life. This morning
the water was so perfectly calm, it
blended into the sky, becoming one.
On days like today I often look back
to the shore and sometimes I see you
standing in front of the sun, still
dressed in your faded blue-jeans and
embroidered white Mexican blouse.
