Winter Events in Coronado You Don’t Want to Miss

Taking advantage of the absence of snow, Coronado thrives during the Holiday season, pulling out all the stops to become a festive paradise. From decorating contests, to ice skating to parades, there is no shortage of holiday cheer here.

Annual Christmas Parade & Holiday Open House Celebration
Friday, December 5th from 3-8pm

An entire day of festivities has Coronado in full swing for Christmas spirit. This annual event will kick off with Santa making a special appearance at the Coronado Ferry Landing. Take a stroll down Orange Ave, enjoying the luxury of a car free atmosphere for one of the rare occasions when the street is closed. All of the businesses will be extra festive with their Merchant Open House in anticipation of the much-awaited Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.

Following the elaborate Christmas parade down Orange Ave, the merriment continues to Rotary Park with the lighting of the 50-foot Christmas tree. The evening will conclude with a fee concert in the park.

Skating by the Sea
November 27th through January 4th

You’ve never had an ice skating experience quite as majestic until you take advantage of Skating by the Sea at the spectacular rink at the Hotel del Coronado. Nestled right next to the beach, skaters enjoy breath-taking views of the Pacific while carving figure eights into the ice.

43rd Annual Parade of Lights
Sunday December 14th and 21st

Lighting up the night sky with over 80 colorfully decorated boats; this event brings the parade to the San Diego Bay. Nestle up with a warm drink at Coronado Ferry Landing to get the best views at the fantastic floats sail by.

Lamb’s Players Theatre Christmas Specials
November 29th through December 28th

Captivating audiences of all ages, Lamb’s Players Theatre puts on two Christmas shows each year. This year’s Festival of Christmas will feature “Northern Lights,” a comedy following 3 generations adjusting their holiday plans after pipes burst at the family home.

Celebrating its 23rd year “An American Christmas” will treat patrons in the Ballroom at the Hotel Del Coronado to a fantastic dinner and incredible showmanship! This three-hour event is filled with music, dance laughter and a delicious 5-course meal.

ParkLife Holiday Decorating Contest
Entry Period – November 28th – Midnight on December 14th

Going into its third year, the Annual ParkLife Holiday Decorating Contest will again seek to honor the best exterior holiday decorations in Coronado. Each year homes are ornamented with a variety of decorations, ranging from the traditional, luxurious to unique. But you get to vote on which home has the best decorations.

Candy Cane Lane

While all of Coronado brings the feeling of Christmas to the beach, Candy Cane Lane is worth a private tour. For over 50 years, the cul-de-sac at the end of Country Club Lane has spectacularly executed holiday decorations, delighting patrons from all over San Diego County.
