Coronado Karate’s Martial Arts America Promotes Halloween Safety

David Adams, owner of Coronado Karate’s Martial Arts America is asking parents, homeowners, and drivers to promote Halloween safety. “A major component of our karate curriculum throughout the year is personal safety and self defense,” said Adams. “This is one of the most practical and valuable benefits of karate training for students as well as their families and the community.” Adams continued that students at Coronado Karate’s Martial Arts America receive specific instruction about Halloween safety every year, and being safe throughout the year.

“Coronado goes all out at Halloween and it’s a lot of fun,” says Adams. To have fun and be safe on Halloween, he recommends children always trick or treat in groups or with a trusted adult and never accept rides from strangers. It’s important to examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating, to eat only factory-wrapped treats, and to walk, not run when trick or treating. Residents can make sure their yards are well lit, free of debris, and that pets are secured. Drivers should slow down and watch carefully for pedestrians.

“We invite the community to visit us between 3:30-5:30 pm on Halloween for a treat,” says Adams. For more information about Martial Arts America’s karate and self defense curriculum, call 435-8223 or visit the school at 1005 C Avenue.
