Local Family Invites Community to Learn More About Children of the Nations – October 30th

On Wed., Oct. 30 from 7pm-8pm, the Mowry family will open their Coronado home to Chris and Debbie Clark, founders of Children of the Nations, a non-profit Christian Mission with the focus of “Raising Children to Transform Nations”. You are invited to come and learn about the work being done to help orphaned and destitute children in Africa, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic so that they can rise out of poverty and give back to their communities.

Nancy Mowry and her daughter, Emily (above right), were one of 3 families who were able to actually travel to the Dominican Republic to serve in the Batays (shanty towns) this past summer. Not only did they take much needed supplies and medicines, but their team taught a Bible study for teen girls and taught them how to play volleyball. They helped lay a cement floor, where their had only been dirt, in one of the two remaining dirt floor homes in the Batay of Altagracia.

But the greatest blessing was meeting their sponsored son, Jorlin, and choosing another little girl, Navi, to sponsor. A sponsorship covers one main meal a day (M-F), faith-based schooling, and medical care for the child on a monthly basis over several years. Although the dominant language is Spanish, letters are exchanged and translated by volunteers. Sponsorships can continue all the way through university! You can truly change a life.

We invite anyone from the community who would like to hear more about helping those in need in a very personal and fulfilling way to join us on Wed., Oct. 30 from 7-8pm. Please email Nancy at [email protected] so we can plan ahead. Also, please check out the website cotni.org to find out more about this wonderful Mission organization, as well as check out our blog from our summer trip at http://missioninthedr.wordpress.com
