Healing the Unseen Wound – Veterans Day Friend-Raiser

Come celebrate Veterans Day 2011 at the “Healing the Unseen Wound Friend-Raiser” on Coronado Island. This event is open to anyone who has an interest in how we plan to engage, educate and heal our youngest combat veterans as they migrate into civilian life. Donations of any kind (food, raffle items, funds) are appreciated but not required. Please ask what you can do to help.

We will be providing food for registered attendees and for our local Veterans at VFW Post 2422 so please be sure to register early. Due to generous donations, the first 50 registrants will also receive a complimentary “goody bag” when they check in.

Please invite friends and family and if you cannot make it, please send someone in your stead.

A bit about the organization:

With over 400,000 registered veteran non-profits across the US why are we committed to launch another one?

In short, because our youngest combat veterans are really struggling with this economy (aren’t we all), their separation from military service and in many cases the tangible effects of combat related trauma (PTSD/TBI).

Small Businesses and Corporate America are struggling. The VA is overwhelmed. Veteran substance abuse, domestic violence, visits to the courts and suicide within the 22 – 28 year old range are all on the rise. Not a gentle rise either, but a rocket like trajectory.

We need to support this under-served group of veterans on a local and community based level and we cannot sit around and wait for the government to do it for us.

Will you join us? If yes, please ask “how can I help”.

With your support we will provide the trinity of re-integration (engagement, education and healing) to young combat veterans, from all services, in numerous communities across the US.

V/R and with a hearty thanks for your time.

Rick J. Collins

Founder and Executive Director.
