Dozens of the vintage images were provided by Sue Gillingham, co-owner of the 1906 Lodge.
The newly released Arcadia book, CORONADO, is a walk through the history of our little resort town. With more than two hundred vintage black-and-white images, CORONADO documents the early years of the developing beach resort: the Hotel del Coronado, the beloved ferries, Japanese Tea Gardens, Tent City, and the Navy’s role on Coronado. From the early years of wealthy residents through two world wars and the building of the bridge, CORONADO brings to life the people, places, and events that have defined and shaped this very special and unique community through the years.
Congratulations to Leslie for her wonderful accomplishment. Let’s support her by purchasing her book at the 1906 Lodge on Sunday!
The 1906 Lodge is located at 1060 Adella Avenue in Coronado, across from the U.S. Post Office. Many vintage images appearing in CORONADO are displayed as art work in the common areas and guest rooms at the Lodge. Copies of CORONADO will remain for sale in the Lodge’s gift shop after the book signing. For more information, email [email protected] or call at 619-437-1900.
