Calling all Chili Cookers and Salsa Creators!!! The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club is proud to announce the 13th annual Beans-N-Jeans Chili Cook-Off. It will be held at the Ferry Landing Marketplace on May 16st, 2009 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The event is great for the whole family and we have lots of exciting prizes up for grabs this year such as: round trip airfare, Disneyland 4 pack of tickets, Townie Bicycle, a hotel stay and much more. We will have a fast pitch challenge, inflatable obstacle course, and face painting for the children. The band Jumpstart will be providing their fun music once again and for the adults there will be a beer garden. The tasting tickets are only $10 for 10 chili and salsa tastings. There is a shortage of chili and salsa entries this year especially military entries and we are asking for your help. So challenge you troop, co-workers, neighbors, and friends to try and beat your best chili or salsa recipe. The proceeds from this event will be used to support the Monarch School and Challenged Athletes Foundation Operation Rebound. Operation Rebound provides post-rehabilitation support and mentoring to American service members and veterans who have suffered permanent physical injuries as a result of the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. This program will provide the next step in their recovery once they have mastered “the basics” needed to return to an active lifestyle. Founded in 1988, Monarch School and its committed team of teachers, administrators and volunteers is dedicated to providing homeless and at-risk children with an accredited education while caring for their basic needs. Today, more than 100 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 are enrolled at Monarch School. In order to raise the most money that we can for these two great causes we need to have lots of chili’s available for tasting.
