Coronado Community Read 2018 to Launch on Feb. 22

Are you READY Coronado? The 2018 Coronado Community Read selection is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. The Community READ is a six-week community program of lectures, activities, films and book discussions focusing on a shared book. Most of the events are FREE and open to the public. The 2018 Coronado Community Read is launching February 22 at 6:30 p.m. with PRESS REWIND: A 1980’s Concert featuring BETAMAXX. Tickets are on sale at the Coronado Library Reference Desk or contact the Contract Arts Administrator at 619.522.2633. Tickets are $25 per person and this event will sell out!

Other activities include a series of film screenings, lectures on Virtual Reality, the genre of Science Fiction, and the future of Robotics. There is a Teen Sci-fi writing contest, a community-wide scavenger hunt and even a special Ready Play One edition of PopQuiz! Trivia Night hosted by former Mayor Casey Tanaka.

Ready Player One was an international best seller, appeared on numerous “best of the year” lists, and now is a motion picture by Warner Bros. and director Steven Spielberg that will debut on Thursday, March 29, 2018. A brochure of all events planned for the READ is available at the Coronado Public Library or online at CoronadoARTS.com.  Get READY Coronado!
