Children of both local and visiting families enjoy the Holiday Parade by gathering around the town piano to sing Christmas carols as the parade began to get underway. The crowd adores the festive and creative floats. The motorcycle adorned in colorful Christmas lights carries Jack Frost across Orange Avenue. This was just one of the many floats that was enjoyed by the community.Mayor Richard Bailey, Santa, and his elves, greet guests in a bright red, vintage fire truck as they make their way to the annual tree lighting ceremony. As Mayor Richard Bailey made his appearance in his Christmas suit, he was greeted by Sue Gillingham and Fred Eckert on the podium to lead the crowd in carols as the ceremony continued. The Sierras family was very excited to light the Rotary Plaza Christmas tree on Orange Avenue. This year, the well known lever that is used to light up the Christmas tree was replaced by the “Magic Box” with no wires attached, there was just a single button to be pressed. As the clock ticked down to the final seconds, everyone was surprised to see the tree light up with a 30 second delay. But this did not stop the joy and excitement experienced by the crowd. But the holiday festivities did not end there. The Coronado ensemble continued to play music throughout the night to further ignite the wonderful community atmosphere that was enjoyed by the hundreds of families, children and parents. Looking beautiful as ever, the Rotary Plaza tree continued to illuminate the night as the holiday parade came to an end.
