Design Review Commission: On Wednesday, November 8, the Design Review Commission approved an exterior remodel for the Panera Bread restaurant at 980 Orange Ave. and approved the exterior design for a new two-unit residential condominium at 751 Orange Ave.

Gateway Project Update: At its meeting Tuesday, November 7, the City Council removed an item from the agenda’s Consent Calendar to discuss public participation in the Gateway Improvements Project, which will improve the entrance to the City at the old toll plaza area including traffic calming and pedestrian amenities (see rendering below). The Council then agreed with staff’s recommendation to authorize a contract modification with Michael Baker International to develop a Project Engineering Evaluation Report and produce construction plans, specifications and cost estimate for the Gateway Improvements Project. The Council also agreed to authorize a work order modification with Placeworks to prepare a preliminary environmental analysis report. The project will return to the Council December 19 with an update on whether the California Department of Transportation has accepted the permit to allow the City to stay on schedule.
