“Sisters” Now Playing at Village Theatre

Sisters

Sisters is an absolute riot. The film stars two of Hollywood’s most hilarious women, Amy Poehler as Maura Ellis and Tina Fey as Kate Ellis. When Kate and Maura discover that their parents are selling their childhood home, the sisters decide to throw one last Ellis party, and everything that can go wrong does.

Maura is uptight and a recent divorcee, Kate is a single mom whose teenage daughter is more responsible than she is. Kate and Maura are complete opposites but they balance each other. Poehler and Fey have great chemistry which makes for an over the top fun film. Movie goer Megan calls Sisters, “Wildly inappropriate. I laughed my butt off!” Wildly inappropriate is correct. While there are drugs and sex, the humor comes more from laughter splitting through your ribs while whispering to your neighbor “did that really just happen?!” Unlike many films, Sisters is completely unpredictable. You never know what’s coming next and it is always ten times worse than you expected – like whether paint in the sprinklers may or may not completely ruin your backyard foundation.

A film about the craziness of family and how grown ups can party too, Sisters is a movie worth seeing. Do not take your kids, and be prepared for some awkward moments if you take your mom.
