Veteran newspaper executive Bob Page acquired two local monthly publications, the San Diego Metropolitan Magazine and its sister publication, the North Park News, from Gary Shaw on June 1 for an undisclosed price. The Metropolitan, which is 24 years old, has a monthly circulation of 20,000 and the 16-year-old North Park News has a circulation of 12,500. Both are distributed free of charge. Page, a Rancho Santa Fe resident, was once publisher of the Chicago Sun Times. He also served as publisher for the Boston Herald and previously he rose through the ranks to an executive-level position at United Press International. More recently he owned the Rancho Santa Fe Review, Carmel Valley News and the Del Mar Village Voice newspapers, but sold them in 2004. Kris Grant, who owns Coronado Lifestyle Magazine, a quarterly publication which she founded in 2002, will serve as editor for both the Metropolitan and the North Park News. Coronado Lifestyle is mailed to Coronado residents and businesses free of charge. Grant said that she will have a minority interest in the Metropolitan and the North Park News and that Page and his wife Rebeca will have a minority interest in Coronado Lifestyle, but the terms of that deal have not been finalized.
