Every so often I’m fortunate to get wonderful ‘Coronado’ nuggets of information to share with eCoronado.com readers. I was informed earlier today that Coronado’s Doug Leland is riding/pedaling an ElliptiGO from Canada to Mexico in an effort to raise funds for a friend’s daughter who suffered severe brain injury after being struck by a car in 2009. Learn more about the Janelle Fund here.
Doug has already completed about 692 miles and has 1,040 more to go before he hits the Mexican border. Doug started his journey towards Mexico from Canada on 6/21/10 and expects to finish on 8/11/10. If you donate .01 per mile, it will only cost you less than $20. Learn more about supporting this cause here.
Doug and his wife Sally live here in Coronado and I’m proud to call them ‘Coronado Neighbors’. I’ve never met them in person, but I can tell you that they are generous and caring folks that sincerely put others ahead of themselves. You can read more about each of them here: Doug’s Bio | Sally’s Bio
Doug is also an active member of the Coronado Optimist Club.
Please take a moment to visit Doug and Sally’s blog as they journey towards completing the amazing ride from Canada to Mexico. Perhaps you will be moved to send an encouraging email or make a donation. Either way, these folks deserve recognition and I’m honored to share it with you.
