Yes on E – This isn’t just about Coronado Unified

Since retiring in 2010 and still having the intense desire to give back to our young men and women, I frequently speak in university leadership, honors and business classes and mentor students on how to become ethical and effective leaders.

I am very concerned about the values in our country – values that teach good citizenship and personal accountability. Yes, there are many wonderful people and leaders in our community, nation and world, but we need more. I am worried about creating enough collaborative, non-toxic and inspirational leaders in business and government and I believe that this development starts in our K-12 schools, as well as in our families and community groups. Regardless of what a graduating senior chooses to do, I believe that we should support her and him with exceptional guidance, encouragement and the confidence to define and travel their own path.

We MUST support their development and their futures and we MUST support the continued excellence of Coronado Unified to prepare our students for a complex, messy and unpredictable world. Regardless of your family composition and situation, and especially if you feel ambivalent about this vote, let me emphasize that this is much bigger than just Coronado Unified. This is about creating leaders for the future and the last place we should short change the process is in our schools. Please join me with your vote Yes on E!
