September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Join Blue Bridge Hospitality and millions of Americans across the Nation in observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year; approximately 1/4 of them will not survive the disease. A diagnosis turns the lives of the entire family upside down. The objective of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is to put a spotlight on the types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues, and – importantly – to help raise funds for research and family support.

September 7-13: Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Since Alex, a four year old diagnosed with cancer, set up her first lemonade stand in 2000—truly exemplifying the saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”—her foundation has raised more than $80 million. That money has helped to fund more than 450 cutting-edge research projects?, create a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment?, and develop resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer.

$1 from every lemonade purchased from any of our locations will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Bonus: get a Lemon Sorbet at MooTime Creamy or Alex’s Hard Lavender Lemonade at Leroy’s Kitchen + Lounge, and $1 will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand!

September 14-20: Game Changer 4 Life
Team Parker 4 Life’s Game Changer 4 Life, enhances the lives of children receiving treatment for cancer by providing opportunities for children in isolation a chance to participate in group games and activities held at their hospital.

Donate new, unwrapped board games, puzzles, card games, ipads, ipods, kindles, two-way radios, family friendly video games and gift cards and receive a $5 Blue Bridge Hospitality gift certificate for every item donated! Once collected, Team Parker for Life will distribute the games to kids at children’s hospitals around the country!

September 21-27: Go Gold to fight Childhood Cancer

Like other forms of cancer, childhood cancer has an international symbol, the gold ribbon. Many colors were considered, but after much thought, it was decided that the color gold was the perfect choice for the cause. Gold is a precious metal, and children are precious.

Go gold at any Blue Bridge Hospitality location by wearing a gold ribbon or any crazy gold wear, and 15% of the proceeds from your meal will be donated to the American Childhood Cancer Organization! What better reason to go gold?!
