An Artful and Heart-Full August at the John D. Spreckels Center

Get your creative fix and enjoy relaxing summer fun with these Spreckels Center programs:

Are you ready to try your hand at writing? On Wednesday, August 7 from 10:30 am – 12 pm, learn how to creatively turn your memories into short stories or poetry in local author Deb Nordlie’s “Everybody Has a Story” four-week class. $48 for residents/$60 for nonresidents.

On Thursday, August 8 from 1:30 – 3 pm, photographer Felix Mayorca will teach you how to take beautiful portraits during the Smartphone Photography class. Learn the ins and outs of capturing intriguing images on your smartphone’s camera. Bring your phone and some comfortable walking shoes. $10 for residents/$12 for nonresidents.

If you’re looking for a chance to relax your body, slow-down your mind, and turn up the kindness and compassion quotient, drop in for a 30-minute Meditation and Relaxation experience on Monday, August 12, 10:30-11 a.m. No prior experience is necessary. Cost: $3 for residents/ $4 for nonresidents.
