Old Goats Kids Who Care Raised $1500 for Charles Humphrey Keating IV Foundation

Below recap from Mayor Richard Bailey

The Old Goats organized a charity wheelchair basketball game on May 19 featuring the National Champion Wolfpack Wheelchair Basketball team against the Coronado City Council with proceeds benefiting the Charles H. Keating IV Foundation.

Home court advantage at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort was critical to keeping the score close. Councilmember Bill Sandke gave the play by play while the special guest referees, Mayor Casey Tanaka and Councilmember Mike Woiwode, MAY have assisted with some favorable calls for the home team as well.

Thanks to Councilmembers Whitney Benzian and Mike Donovan as well as Derik Mundt and Paul Lull for repping team Coronado and giving it their all on the court.

Congratulations to the Wolfpack for defending their title for the fourth straight year and supporting a great cause.

Final Score: City Council 14 – Wolfpack 21

Charlie was a friend to everyone he met and one of our nation’s heroes.

On the morning of May 3, 2016, Charlie’s quick reaction force (QRF) team received reports that over 300 ISIS enemy fighters, reinforced by armored and explosive-laden vehicles, were advancing on the host nation defense forces and surrounding civilian population. If not for the actions of Charlie’s team, this attack would have been catastrophic. Responding without hesitation, Charlie’s team valiantly held the advancing enemy at bay for more than four hours, enabling a successful Peshmerga partner force to counter attack. On May 3, 2016, Charles Keating fought fearlessly and made the ultimate sacrifice defending his brothers.

The goal of the Charles Humphrey Keating IV Foundation is to research, develop, and implement evidence-based solutions to maintain family unity while improving the transition from Front Lines to Home Front.
