Do you know your next door neighbors? Probably not — or only enough to say hello when you drive by or see them in the hall. Facebook is heavily used to link family and friends that are often thousands of miles apart, but we don’t know our own neighbors!
Nextdoor.com is changing that for homeowners in Coronado and throughout the United States – and now finally for condo owners in the Coronado Shores.
Recognizing that people did not know their next door neighbors, the company Nextdoor.com decided to fix this by setting up an easy way for neighbors to get to know one another. The website has been around since 2011, but only recently has it had the ability for someone who owns their condo to register it under their condo address. Joining is free. You just go to www.nextdoor.com and register for an account. Once a member, you can post messages, ask or answer questions, and get to know your neighbors. There’s classified and free sections and also sections for posting events and activities. You can see maps where all the Nextdoor members are located and send individual messages to individual members.
The Coronado Shores community within Nextdoor.com has been active for just a few days now. Each building has its own group within the Coronado Shores group so that every condo owner who joins automatically becomes part of the Shores group and also of their own building group.
My husband and I are Coronado Shores owners in the El Camino building and we’d like to encourage other Shores owners to join too. We’d like to get to know our neighbors!
