Sullivan Solar Power Offers Contingent Contracts to the Community After a successful four months of community outreach, Dan Sullivan is making a last attempt to get everyone in his neighborhood to sign up for the best prices offered in the solar incentive program. The local solar photovoltaic (PV) firm has announced a new opportunity to encourage Coronado residents to go solar. They are now allowing for contingent contracts to be signed, where individuals are able to opt out of the agreement if the discount milestones are not reached. Phase I of the community discount program, where Sullivan is offering the most generous discounts, ends on September 1. “If you have ever considered going solar, now is the time to do it,” said Sullivan. He continued to explain that the California Solar Initiative state rebates continue to drop rapidly, and will eventually run out. In combination with the renewable energy federal tax credit, California residents are currently able to get solar PV systems at nearly half of the actual cost. To further entice the City to go solar, Sullivan Solar Power launched a two-phase discount program that is offered only to Coronado residents. In Phase I of the program, for 70kW sold, everyone receives 7.5% off their system, 100kW gets discounted 12.5% and for 150kW sold, everyone receives a 17.5% discount on their installation. After September 1, the community discounts will be half of what is being offered in Phase I. As of last Thursday, the firm had 33.9kW sold and 64kW pending in Coronado system sales. “If all of our pending sales sign their contracts, we are close to hitting the second milestone and getting everyone a 12.5% discount off their installation, which is a substantial incentive for green technology,” said Erica Johnson, community developer at Sullivan Solar Power. “With this program, there is huge potential for Coronado to be leading the County’s solar movement,” she concluded. Sullivan Solar Power has been working closely with the Chamber of Commerce, eCoronado.com, local media and service organizations to get the word out about transforming the City into a solar community. “The vision my firm has set out for Coronado, a 100 percent solar city, is feasible but can only be implemented as a reality with the comprehensive action and support of our residents, businesses and political officials,” said Sullivan. “We are at the point now when we need people to sign up so that everyone can save money. There is only one week left in Phase I and we are extremely close to hitting our milestones.” Sullivan Solar Power will host a seminar on September 12th at 1:00PM in the Coronado Community Center to announce Phase II of the community discount program.
