FILM FORUM CORONADO: “The Quiet American”

March 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:45 pm PDT

Free

Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

March 19: The Quiet American (1958, TV-PG, 120 min)

In conjunction with the 2025 Coronado Community READ.

Find the full Coronado Community Read 2025 program here.

Joseph Mankiewicz directs Graham Greene’s eerily prophetic snapshot of  U.S. meddling in Vietnamese politics in the turbulent 1950s. A world-weary British journalist (Michael Redgrave) and a liberal  American aid worker (Audie Murphy) vie for the heart, mind and body of a Saigon woman (Georgia Moll). Largely shot on location in Saigon.
