The Junior Optimist International of Coronado (JOI), sponsored by the Optimist Club of Coronado, will be conducting a non-perishable food drive on Sunday February 5, 2017.
Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-led service movement tied to the big game each winter. Souper Bowl of Caring helps young people across America develop a stronger connection to their communities by caring for their neighbors in need. Join the movement that is transforming the days surrounding Super Bowl weekend in the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving. We are reminded at this time, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, that we should be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat. All goods collected will be donated to the San Diego Soup Kitchen at the First Presbyterian Church in Downtown San Diego. A collection box will be located at the Coronado High School main office (650 D Avenue), for anyone who would like to donate in advance. Donations will be accepted during regular school hours. Call our sponsor Erin with questions or to schedule a pick-up at (619) 675-1323.
Additionally, members of all three JOI clubs will be out in the Coronado Community on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th from 12:00 – 2:00 pm collecting donations of canned and boxed pantry items as a part of their Service Blitz.
