Cruise 4 Kids is a private event this Saturday, September 10, where invited sports and exotic car owners will participate in a forty-mile drive from Coronado to Carlsbad. The purpose of the cruise is not to race, but for drivers and passengers to enjoy and admire a fleet of exotic cars. 100 percent of the proceeds (individuals must purchase a spot as driver or passenger) will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito.
Drivers and passengers will meet at and depart from the Hotel del Coronado and “cruise” to the McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad. 100 vehicles and 300 individuals are expected to participate.
The event kicks off at 7:30am, and cars will depart from the Hotel del at 10:30am. Keep this event in mind when driving on Saturday morning, as delays are expected. “Police personnel will hold north and southbound traffic on Orange Avenue at R. H. Dana/Adella for a brief period of time at 10:30 a.m. in order to facilitate movement of the vehicles from the hotel to Orange Avenue,” states City Manager Blair King in his Coronado Weekly Update (page 2). The Coronado Bridge will also suffer a temporary closure for the rally to be escorted over by California Highway Patrol motorcade while a helicopter films from above.
