April 15th marks the 100th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the RMS Titanic in the North Atlantic Ocean.
James Cameron’s re-release of the film in 3D, gave it a more dramatic and realistic feel as you experience the dramatic tragedy of the fatal accident. It’s great that this movie is back in theaters where it belongs, especially because of its centennial anniversary. The movie’s most powerful scene, the chaotic sinking, is even more intense with the 3D effects; it makes you really experience the tragedy. It even makes you cringe when someone falls into the water because of how realistic it is.
There has been one minor alteration made to the movie, though. James Cameron (director and writer) got an email from Neil deGrasse Tyson, one of the U.S.’ leading Astrophysicists, telling him that at that time of year in 1912, the star field was not like it is in the movie. James Cameron, known as a perfectionist, was upset with himself and said that he should have known that and added the correct star field. The 3D effects and the night sky are the only changes that were made to the movie.
Don’t miss your chance to see this beloved film back on the big screen once again!
