Port Master Plan Update Workshops: As part of the Port of San Diego’s public outreach efforts for its Integrated Planning Port Master Plan Update process, the public is invited to two upcoming board workshops during which the Board of Port Commissioners will discuss future planning for the Embarcadero. The Board Workshops are being held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, and at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 25, at the Port of San Diego Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway.

City Council Meeting Items: The following are noteworthy items from the February 5 City Council meeting:

  • The City Council authorized the City Manager to hire a contractor to analyze and review the California Department of Transportation’s report on the relinquishment of state Routes 75 and 282. For a not-to-exceed amount of $40,000, the contractor will conduct an economic analysis of the benefits versus costs of taking over ownership and maintenance of state Routes 75 and 282.
  • The City Council accepted the Parking Permit Survey results conducted by City staff and directed staff to leave the trial suspension of the Permit Parking Zone “as is” with the addition of Palm Avenue between Third and Fourth streets going forward.

Storm Activity Response:  Three storms hit San Diego County from Thursday, January 31, through Monday, February 4. Despite a good amount of rainfall, there was nothing exceptional to report but minor street flooding and minor tree issues. A general water advisory recommending avoiding water contact for 72 hours was issued on Thursday, January 31, for all coastal waters. Out of an abundance of caution, San Diego County health officials closed the beaches, but it was not based upon test results.
