“Jurassic World” Now Playing at Village Theatre

“Let’s admit it,” the Jurassic World operations manager, Claire, states briskly, “no one’s impressed by dinosaurs anymore.”

So Jurassic World, a dazzling dinosaur theme park built on the ruins of the failed Jurassic Park, is taking its game to the next level. They have designed the first genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, a cross between a T-Rex and… well, the rest is confidential. But the new breed is designed to be much larger than a T-Rex.

She also had a sibling — until she ate it.

An expert opinion is needed on the dinosaur’s enclosure. Will it hold her? Claire calls Owen Grady, a trainer in the park who shares a unique bond with the Velociraptors that he has imprinted since birth. When he arrives at the Indominus‘ enclosure, however, there are scratch marks on the wall and no signs of a dinosaur.

Meanwhile, Zach and Gray Mitchell, two brothers visiting their aunt Claire, are excited to explore the park. They join 20,000 other tourists that day to see the dinosaurs in their habitat, oblivious to the fact that the Indominus has just gone missing.

The film toys with the dilemma of the dinosaurs’ ability to feel and respond to people. Vic Hoskins, owner InGen security, would like to use Owen’s raptors as the newest war weapon. But Owen presses that animals — even once-extinct animals — have rights. How should they be treated? Will humans and dinosaurs ever live in harmony? Who are you rooting for?
