CUSD Superintendent to Rescind Dog Park Land Offer

By Superintendent Karl Mueller

The Coronado City Council voted yesterday to continue discussions on a proposed amendment to our existing Joint Facility Use Memorandum of Understanding. While we believe this course of action is in alignment with our ultimate objective in amending the MOU, to seek creative funding solutions while supporting community-wide initiatives, I plan on bringing forward to the Governing Board a recommendation to withdraw/rescind our proposal to the City for a potential dog park at our next Board meeting.

I am making this recommendation to ensure that this proposal does not cause further distraction from our primary responsibility as an academic institution: teaching and learning.

We value and appreciate our partnership with the City of Coronado, our students, and the families we serve. We will continue engaging in discussions with our community which balance our commitment to student health, safety, and success with our budget realities.

Respectfully,
Karl J Mueller
