FOCUS to Auction Galapagos Shangri-La Vacation

Friends of Children United Society will be hosting An Evening with Elvis on April 29th in the Nautilus Room of the Coronado Community Center from 5 to 9. FOCUS is well-known throughout the San Diego community for helping and assisting battered, abused, homeless, disabled, and disadvantaged children. It has continued since 1982 to fund projects and organizations that further the support of children in need.

Galapagos Shangri-La

Tickets are still available for An Evening With Elvis. In addition to dining, dancing and listening to the music of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, guests will be able to bid on a seven day and six night vacation at the Galapagos Shangri-La.

The Shangri-La is a private resort on the island of Santa Cruz in the heart of the Galapagos Islands. The enclosed villa includes the three level main house with two bedrooms, two baths, a salon, and a top deck with panoramic 360 degree views of the Pacific paradise. A one bedroom, one bathroom casita is also encapsulated in the compound. The amenities of the villa include a swimming pool, barbecue, complete furnishing, WiFi, cable television, complimentary provision of linen and towels, microwave, and all the conveniences one would expect here in the United States.

When you add the accommodations of your own private villa to the offerings of Galapagos Islands, it would be a vacation like no other. Walking trails where visitors can leisurely step along while viewing colorful flamingoes, pintail ducks and iguanas in their natural habitat. Where seagulls, seals, and other birds mingle with the locals at the fish market in Puerto Ayora, footsteps away from the Galapagos Shangri-La.

The Charles Darwin Research Center and the Manzanillo Tortoise Reserve are both located on Santa Cruz Island. Approximately 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands have two airports and water taxis to reach adjacent islands. The Shangri-La, with its main house and casita, will provide an enchanting home base for up to ten guests, and the complete villa will be auctioned for seven days and six nights’ usage during the Evening with Elvis.

Reservations for the Evening with Elvis are $100 per person, with a no host bar. Tables for eight are available. Send checks, payable to FOCUS, Post Office Box 180023, Coronado, Ca. 92178.
